"The Day The Music Died"
by Farkel inin 1972 the great irish balladeer don mcclean introduced the song "american pie.
" it was and still is a classic.
the song is full of symbolism and even to this day almost thirty years after the song was first introduced, mcclean will not reveal the real meanings behind much of that symbolism.. in that song, he sings about "the day the music died.

14 Minutes and you are not a Servant of Jehovah
by JT inlast night we were discussing the "new light" that was revealed to the gb recently from jehovah.
many of us recall all the co talks and elder parts based on the bible text of how a true servant of jah would not be "inactive or irregular" for years one was required to have at least one hour to be considered a servant of jah.. as the sec in my hall i recall so many times calling up friends to get thier time and hearing them break crying cause they didn't have 60min only about 45min- and they knew that it meant they were not servants of jah.
now with the new light from jw a person with only 14 minutes of time will now be disqualified as being a servant of jah.. it is amazing how many jw will view this arrangement as a "loving provision from jah" instead of realizing that thier service to thier god has been reduced to whether they get 15min or 14 min.

Hi JT,
I add to the compliments given already. Very good analogy and post, including the follow ups. Do you know what another sad fact is? I (and many others) cannot recommend this site to any we know who are on the edge of leaving Jdubland. I've seen it time and again. People here blast away at them or post disgusting filth that sends them screaming back to momma, crying, "The Watchtower is right about those apostates".
Isn't 'free speech' wonderful? At least H2O tried to keep it sane and our goal was to remove people with reason, just as happened to you and I and many others......
Stay out of left field, no, the parking lot. ;-)

The most violently insane acts in the Bible.
by sleepy inthe bible contains accounts of some horrendously voilent happenings.. some more graphic then many modern films.. this disturbs many when they first read those accounts.. heres one that stood out to me when i first read it.. 1 samuel 15:33 "with that samuel went hacking a'gag to pieces before jehovah in gil'gal".
it wasn't enough just to kill him but samuel hacked him to pieces in front of a large crowd of people.. i wouldn't want to get into a tangle with samuel if he got out of the wrong side of bed that morning.

King Agag?
Saul should have come back with Agag's head and his hands freshly removed. It was a traditional fate for a conquered king during this age. Methinks the King and his people whould have quit tossing babies into the firey belly of Moloch, or placing them alive in walls of buildings for good luck, or attacking the elderly and young of Israel, who were bringing up the rear when the Israelites passed through their country. Maybe they were responsible for their own fate and the fate of their families. Had they repented, they would have been spared, just like Nineveh.
Today, surgeons take our young because we can't inconvenience some woman. HER body is more important than the baby's life.....God gives life and He or the 'superior authorities' (by His allowance) have that right and THEY are awaiting His judgement where they do this without justice.

Seeker, Let's try some ex-dubs:
Randy Watters, Jim Penton, Ron Day, Fred Franz, Jeff Schwenn and the list goes on....a wide range of beliefs but all Christians, none the less.
One of the good things about the gospel is the intelligent and rich, the well-read have no advantage over the simple people in the world. Most of the prominent protestant pastors (as well as man priests in Catholicism are both highly educated and evangelical. Yet with protestantism, the 'priesthood of the believer', teaching by way of the Holy Spirit, puts any layperson who is saved on the same level as the doctoral candidate. If a man can teach and preach and is doctrinally sound, he can pastor any church that hires him. God chooses all sorts of people without any regard to their education or station in life, He's as likely to choose a scoundrel as a church mouse for salvation.
Real Christianity is so unlike what we came out of.

Well Bro. Seeker, when you 'splain yourself it makes more sense. I can see what you mean about making people easier to kill by removing their humanity or making them 'deserving' of death because of 'whatever'. That's kinda like the NOW girls do with womb babies, call them 'fetus' or 'fleshly material' makes them easier to kill...until they see the 'material' has arms, legs, head, toe, fingers. No wonder they protest as 'unfair' when anti-abortionists show films of the procedures!
Thanks for the assist.

P.S. For any ladies out there who have had this done: yes, God's grace can cover this sin and anything else. -

This Bible Not Original
by FreePeace inhere is an interesting article by a local columnist that underscores the invalidity of the christian religion as god's chosen one.
it also casts serious doubt on the bible as well as jesus' originality.
this is really nothing new to those of us who have researched it.. http://www.sun-herald.com/newsarchive2/122301/cl2.htm?date=122301&story=cl2.htm.

SS,
Didn't you say that Copeland was someone you used to follow? I guess I got it wrong. Your assertion that "Genesis isn't inspired" is rather inconsistent. Picking and choosing inspiration is highly suspect when it comes to scripture. I see it as an 'all' or 'none' issue, personally.
I would get the conservative view more often if I were you. Don't assume the Jesus Seminar types are evenly remotely correct. And, peole like Bishop Spong and his ilk are humanists hiding in clergymen robes in order to disparage and slander real Christians.

Francois,
Using generalizations to slur fundamentalists is a dishonest tactic. You cannot keep confusing cultic individuals with Christian fundamentalists and get away with it.

>This is why fundamentalism is so dangerous. It's a short leap from thinking a person deserves death to thinking I'm going to kill him.
NOPE, your generalization is a slur on any who hold to the Biblical standards. Again, you mistake fundamentalism for 'cultism', either not knowing or not acknowledging the difference. Slurs are exactly what some ath/ag/liberal use in their demonization of those who oppose their ideas and assertions......

A Question no one can answer?
by moman ina long, long, time ago, when, i waz in dubland,i asked a question to a coulpe of fellow dubs.
the "question" got me a lot of strange looks & a little "shunning" to boot.
it waz later spread around i waz boasting of having, "a question no one can answer"which of course, waz not true.. my question: if every decision one makes iz based on heredity & environment, things we originaly have no choice over, do we really have a choice or free will?.

Rex B13
The Biblical answer to the question is that we have some free will within the ultimate control of an almighty God. Pauls theological treatise in Romans is the basis for Calvinistic teachings, as is the book of Job which shows that Satan even has to ask permission to tempt us with evil or trials. All that happens is under the ultimate control of God yet his allowance gives all created being 'free will'.
JWs are taught a god that is more like the ancient Mithras cult, which has competing good/evil deities. That simply cannot happen within the realm of an almighty God.
